Anderson, dated May !~, 1956, <br />University was read, offering his support to the Mayor and Council in <br />acquiring opposing the University's action towards acquiring more lands <br />Falcon Hts. in Falcon Heights. <br />land <br />League's Circular and questionnaire relative to the League of Minnesota <br />Annual Municipalities annual convention at Detroit Lakes, June 13, 14 aril <br />Convention 15, 1956, were read. <br />Power Co. payt. Village Engineer Carley's letter of May 3, with proposal in <br />for street triplicate covering the payment of damages to the Village by the <br />damages Northern States Power Company for damage to Village streets caused <br />by the installation of natural gas mains, was read. Shavor moved <br />approval of the proposed schedule of charges and that the Clerk be <br />authorized to execute the proposal for the Village. Seconded by <br />Nilsen and motion carried unanimously. <br />Fire Dept. Letter from Fire Chief Grumke was read relative to the recent <br />commended State Fire School and benefits derived by himself and other <br />members of our Fire Department who attended. After discussion <br />of this matter and operations of our Fire Deparment under the <br />Volunteer Fire Chief plan since January 1, 1956, Utecht moved <br />that a letter be written to our Fire Department, espee~.all~y <br />with respect to performance of duties, increased volunteer firemen <br />memberships, improved attendance at drills, and complete and <br />informative reports, commending the Chief, the operational officers, <br />.the volunteer firemen and the tlrrree paid firemen for their good <br />work and cooperation in making this possible. Seconded by Shavor <br />and motion carried unanimously. <br />Condition of Firemen Merkel's letter of May 8, 1956, was read relative to the <br />Village Hall continued unsatisfactory condition that the Hall and chairs are <br />acct Scout left in following the Scouting program meeting. After discussion, <br />meeting Utecht moved that the district Scout representative be informed <br />that no further Scouting program meetings can be held in the Village <br />Hall until the council is furnished with a make-up of the group as <br />to place of residence and also names of the supervisors. Seconded <br />by Shavor and so ordered. <br />Drainage- Letter was read from Mr. Lyle C. Tobias, President, Falcon Manor, <br />1511 W. Larpenteur Inc., relative to a drainage problem in front of 1511 ~~est Larpentaur. <br /> Shavor moved that the letter be referred to the County Engineer's <br /> departmen t, with the request that if possible the matter be corrected.. <br /> Seconded by Stewart and motion carried unanimously. <br />Increased Don Arndt r?ported he had worked out a proposed schedule for increasing <br />policing Sat. evening police patroling, especially on Saturday evenings. Said he <br />evenings. had talked with Officer Dachtera who agreed to work extra hours except <br /> Tuesday evenings. Arndt said maximum hours allowed by the council <br /> were 12 hours per officer per week at present. He recommended that the <br /> maximum be increased to 25 hours to be tried out for a six week <br /> period. Af ter discussion, Utecht moved that we extend the permissive <br /> working hours to a maximum of 25 and that same be continued in force <br /> until such time as the Police Investigating Committee brings in its <br /> report. Seconded by Nilsen and motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />
