Room 126, Ramsey County Court <br />House, on Friday evening, July 27, 1956, beginning at 7:00 P.M., for <br />the purpose of revievring assessment figures for Falcon Heights. <br />Blacktop After discussion, Utecht moved that Trustee Nilsen be authori®ed to <br />V.H. parking fired out the cost of blacktopping the Village Hall parking area. <br />area Seconded by Stewart, and motion carried unanimously. <br />Radio-Police A letter from the Mayor was read reporting on the meeting of suburban <br />service Ramsey County representatives held at North St Paul on July 23, 1956, <br />relative to Village participation in the centralized police-radio <br />service to be installed by the Sheriff's department. <br />Attorney's Copy of Attorney Graham's letter of July 13, 1956, was read <br />report on questioning the council's polders to condemn for a buffer zone or <br />questions for playground purposes portions of the Associated Investors' <br />re property property fronting on Arona between Idaho and Larpenteur, or to <br />on Arona close the alley entrance unless it can be shown that such closing <br />affeced by is in the best interest of the Village as a whmle from a safety <br />Citizens' and welfare standpoint. <br />proposals <br />Gage The Clerk reported that Gage=Construction Company, developers in <br />Construction the Falcon Woods Addition, were interested in building more dwellings <br />Co. in the Village and asked to be referred to a likely location. It <br />was suggested that Mr. Gage be referred to the Barthel Villas area. <br />Applebaum The Clerk reported that it was. proposed to operate a kiddieZ merry go- <br />Food Market round and Ferris wheel on Associated Investors' property in connection <br />permit with opening of the new Applebaum Food Store and that Applebaum's <br />question wished to know if a permit was needed, It was agreed no permit was <br />required. <br />Fry street The question of street grade on Fry street was discussed in connection <br />grade. with the proposed construction of a home by Mr. Frank Collins nn~~'ry <br />street near Maple Knoll. Shavor moved that the Village Engineer be <br />asked to establish a street grade on Fry street. Nilsen seconded an d <br />motion carried unanimously. <br />Maple Knoll Mrs. Frank Skog, 1607 Maple Knoll, appeared. before the council in <br />traffic connection with a citizens' committee request to barricade the <br />entrance to Maple Knoll from Snelling avenue. The Village attorney <br />stated the council has n o power on itsown initiative to vacate a <br />street that is being used. He said a petition would have to be filed <br />by a majority of owners of land abutting on the street and that two <br />weeks' notice of a hearing on the petition must be given. The street, <br />he said, could be vacated only if it is shown at the hearing that it <br />is in the public interest to do so, including rights of the state. <br />
