<br />REGULAR MEETING, WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 22, 1956
<br />Meeting called to order at 7:35 P.M., the following council members being present:
<br />William R. Utecht, Mayor; George J. Shavor, Trustee; David P. Cartwright, Trustee;
<br />Harold C. Nilsen, Trustee; and Clyde J. Stewart, Clerk. Also present: William E.
<br />Olsen, Treasurer, and Frank N. Graham, Attorney.
<br />Minutes of regular meeting, August 8, 1956, were heard and approved as read.
<br />Petition re Lyle F. Warnock, Jr., 1642 Snelling Drive, appeared before the
<br />Applebaum council with a petition signed by himself and 22 others
<br />parking etc. residing on Snelling Drive and West Idaho avenue in the vicinity
<br /> of Applebaum's Food Market, requesting that the owners of
<br /> Applebaum's be asked to stop the following practices: (1)
<br /> Using the unpaved lots adjacent to 16l~2 Snelling Drive as a
<br /> parking area - that said lots should be closed off or be paved
<br /> or oiled. (2) Littering area surrounding store with refuse and
<br /> waste paper. (3) Rubbish burning other than evening hours.
<br /> After discussion, it was agreed tbat Trustee Shavor should
<br /> contact the owners of Applebaum's Market regarding matters
<br /> referred to in the petition.
<br />Bills: On motion by Nilsen, seconded by Cartwright, the following
<br /> bills were ordered paid:
<br /> Electronic Center, Inc., 1 - W/2 12" speaker & 100 ft wire, X38.75
<br /> The Rose Tribune, Adv. for bids for insurance, 7-19-56, $5.25
<br />St Paul .Machinery Mfg. Co., 6 bottles polish for fire trucks, ffi5.l~0
<br /> Ramsey County Treas., street work, July, $1,169.18
<br />F.D. Reqn. #91 to repair tarp for Engine No. 2, one creeper for getting under
<br /> fire trucks, and two cans of medication for burns, was approved
<br /> on motion by Utecht, seconded by Cartwright.
<br />Gas main Request of the Northern States Power Company, dated July. 26, 1956,,
<br />extension was read for installing ~'s mains on Tatum street south to
<br />Larpenteur and west on Larpenteur for 600 feet and north across
<br />private property to service Hermes Floral Company, 2001 W.
<br />Larpenteur. The request was approved on motion by Utecht, seconded
<br />by Stewart.
<br />Off-sale beer On motion by Stewart, "seconded by Cartwright, application of
<br />license - Grays S.S.Grais and A.M. Grais for an off-sale beer license at Gray's
<br />Drug Drug Store, 1552 West Larpenteur Avenue, was approved.
<br />Cigarette license- On motion by Utecht, seconded by Stewart, application for
<br />Grays Drug cigarette license at Gray's Drug Store, 1552 West L.arpenteur Avenue,
<br />was gpproved.
<br />Grudem bldg. Mr. Irvin Grudem, of Grudem Brothers Company, appeared before the
<br />1790 W. Larpenteur council regarding the building code matter at 1790 West Larpentaur.
<br />Mr. Grudem said they have two or three prospective tenants and
<br />asked for additional time to determine what thei~erequirements are.
<br />It was agreed that Mr. Grudem would report back at the council's
<br />September 26, 19515 meeting either by letter or in person.
