~" ~ 4 <br />REGULAR MEETING, THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 28 , 1957 <br />Meeting called to order at 7:110 P. M., the following council members being present: <br />William R. Utecht, Mayor; George J. Shavor, Trustee; Harold C. Nilsen, Trustee; <br />Willis Warkentien, Trustee; Clyde J. Stewart, Clerk. Also present: William E. <br />Olsen, Treasurer, and Frank N. Graham, Attorney. <br />In response to the Mayor's inquiry, no one indicated they wished to hear the <br />minutes of February 11t, 1957 meeting read. Utecht then moved that reading of <br />the February 14, 1957 minutes be dispensed with.and that said minutes be approved <br />as written. Seconded by Shavor and motion carried unanimously. <br />Police car Police Commissioner Donald Arndt reported on his tabulation of <br />purchase the seven bids received at the council's February 1l~, 1957 meeting <br />on a new two-door sedan for police work, pointing out that <br />Clayton Anderson Motors, of North Branch, Minnesota, was the <br />low bidder, their bid being ffi1,6l~9,00 for a 1957 Ford Custom <br />Tudor Sedan. Option:. If 2115 h.p. V-8, 312 cu. in. motor equipped <br />with dual exhaust is desired, add X35. For Custom 300 Series, <br />add. $89.00. <br />Resolution After discussion, Utecht moved that the Village purchase a 1957 <br />Ford Custom series Tudor Sedan from Clayton Andersoh Motors, of <br />North Branch, for the amount of $1,6L49.00, and to authorize our <br />Police Commissioner, Donald Arndt, to designate the color the <br />car should be, with authority to spend up to X89.00 for accessories <br />and up to X35.00 for a 2115 h.p, motor, if he deems it necessary; <br />and that the Clerk be directed to return to the unsuccessful <br />bidders their certified checks. Seconded by Nilsen and motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />Sewer matters, Messrs. Ernest Weigty 1687 Larpenteur Avenue West; William F. Lindig, <br />Fry St.-Larpen- 1681 Larpenteur Avenue West; Charles Gulden, 1739 Fry Street; and <br />tear A.J. Steirrworth, 1735 Fry, appeared before the council and inquired <br />regarding proposed construction of the sewer with respect to their <br />properties. They were informed that construction of the sewer would <br />be on the north side of Larpenteur Avenue west from Fry Street a <br />distance of 225 feet. The resurfacing of Fry Street from Larpenteur <br />to b~aple Knoll was also discussed and the fact stated that the <br />existing surfacing is not on the center line of Fry Street, but that <br />the 30 ft. resurfacing strip and the sanitary sewer will be located <br />on the center line. Messrs. Lindig and Weigt indicated they did <br />not want the sanitary sewer. <br />Fry Street Mr. A.J. Steinworth reported that under present lighting conditions <br />lighting that it is very difficult at night to see where Fry Street is in <br />making the turn off barpenteur Avenue. Also said there was a large <br />hole on Fry Street near Larpenteur that should be repaired. <br />Trustee Nilsen said these matter had been brot to the attention <br />of the County, but that he would check with the County again. <br />Tree trimming Mr. Parker Anderson, 1513. Hoyt Avenue, reported he had been asked <br />report to inspect our tree trimming pro3ect. He stated that the trimming <br />should have been done 10 years ago, and that the present trimming <br />had been limited to minimum requirements, Mr. Anderson suggested <br />that the council consider replacing the present boulevard trees, <br />mostly elms, with deep-rooted trees requiring less maintenance <br />and being less sub3ect to canker and other tree troubles.
