Failure to maintain requirements within a category once <br />--(continued the particular category has been attained, shall constitute. <br />sufficient cause for reduction of pay to rate in next lower <br />category and pay shall be increased to the former rate only <br />when• the requirements for the former category are attained. <br />In such cases, reductions and increases shall be made according <br />to the foregoing policy and in the discretion and at the <br />instance of the Village Council. <br />3. Pay increases are to be effective on employment anniversary <br />date provided the requirements indicated in each categm~y are <br />completed on or before that time. <br />It. Any time worked to fill in for a fireman on vacation or <br />sick leave or other similar circumstance shall be paid for <br />at the base pay rate only of the fireman for whom the time is <br />being worked, or at the base pa~r~rate only of the fireman <br />working, whichever is lower. <br />(See Fire Chief's letter, 3-11~-57, approving proposed wage scale). <br />Resolution - Nilsen moved that the said recommendations of the. Commit tee <br />be approved, the monthly base pay schedule to be effective <br />as of March 1, 1957, and the monthly special service compen- <br />sation of $20.00 to be effective as of .April 1, 1957. <br />Seconded by Utecht and motion carried unanimously. <br />Old mattresses The Clerk reported that an inspection of two old mattresses <br />disposed of. no longer used for cots in the Fire Department dormitory, <br />showed them to be in such condition as to be unserviceable <br />for any Village purpose. Utecht moved that the Fire Chief <br />be authorized to dispose of these two mattresses as he sees <br />fit.
