~~V <br /> REGULAR MEETING, THURSDAY, APRIL 25, 1957 <br />Meeting called to order at 7:30 P.M., the following council members being present: <br />William R. Utecht, Mayor; George J. Shavor, Trustee; Harold C. Nilsen, Trustee; <br />Willis Warkentien, Trustee; Clyde J. Steuart, Clerk. Also present: Frank N. <br />Graham, Attorney. Absent: William E. Olsen, Treasurer. <br />On motion by Utecht, seconded.by Nilsen, reading of the minutes of April 11 and <br />April 16, 1957, ~~~: dispensed with and same approved as submitted. <br />Siren for The matter of removing the siren from police officer <br />tank truck Dachtera's car and installing same on the Fire Department's <br /> tank truck wa~discussed. <br />Alley Improve- A petition for improvement of the alley between Larpenteur <br />meat petition and California Avenues from Albert Street to Hamline Avenue <br /> by grading and blacktopping, signed by Mr. and Mrs. John G. <br /> Ringus, 1367 California Avenue West,. and 33 others, was <br />Resolution - presented to the council. After discussion of the matter <br /> with Mr. Ringus and other residents of the area who were <br /> present, Steuart moved that the petition be referred to the <br /> attorney for checking, and if the attorney finds the petition <br /> to be adequate, that the petition be referred to the Village <br /> Bnginee~ with the request that he check the alley to see if <br /> the proposed improvementis feasible and hou it should be done, <br /> and the estimated cost, with the suggestion that he contact <br /> the Northern States Pourer Company to see if they will bear <br /> any portion of the cost, and also to see if Northern States <br /> Power Compar.~y will put stubs in to the edge of the alley <br /> for those properties which do not have gas connections at the <br /> present time to avoid having the alley torn up later. Seconded <br /> by Nilsen and motion carried unanimously. <br />Alley Dr. Russell E. Risbrudt, 1381 California Avenue West, spoke <br />speeding regarding speeding in the alley behind his home and asked if <br /> speeds in the alley could be limited to five miles per hour. <br /> Informed that speeding in the alley occurred after school hours, <br /> Police Commissioner Arndt stated he would have our police check <br /> into the matter. The attorney was asked to check the statute <br /> as to revising of speed limits on Village streets and alleys. <br />New police squad Mr. D. D, Holden, of Clayton Anderson Motors, North Branch, <br />car received Minnesota, appeared before the council and reported on <br /> delivery of the 1957 Ford Custom Tuakor Sedan to our police: <br /> department this evening. The warranty on the car, he said, <br /> was for 90 days or 11,000 miles, but indicated this had applied <br /> up to 9,000 miles where there was a mechanical defect. Said <br /> that Clayton Anderson Motors was concerned in seeing that the <br /> car was entirely satisfactory and that they would appreciate <br /> it if the car could be brought back to their place of business <br /> for the 1,000-mile service. Mr. Holden also informed the council <br /> that a !t0-ampere generator had been furnished with the car at <br />Resolution - no extra charge. After discussion, Utecht moved that the Clerk <br />be authorized to sign the ta~c emempt certificate so that license <br /> plates could b e secured without delay, and that the 1,000-mile <br /> service check-up be done by Clayton Anderson Motors, of North <br /> Branch. Seconded by Warkentien and motion carried unanimously. <br />
