833 <br />SPECIAL MEETING, WEDNESDAY, MAY 22, 1957 <br />MCeting called to order at 7:10 P.M., the following council members being present: <br />William R. Utecht, Mayor; George J.Shavor, Trustee; Harold C. Nilsen, Trustee; <br />Willis Warkentien, Trustee; Clyde J. Stewart, Clerk. Also present: Frank N. <br />Graham, Attorney. Absent: William E. Olsen, Treasurer. <br />Minutes: On motion by Utecht, seconded by Sh}~vor, reading of the minutes <br />of May 9, 1957 and May 11t,. 1957, was dispensed with and same <br />approved as submitted. <br />Engineer's I~rry Steffes, of our sanitary serer engineers, was present. <br />tabulation of His letter of May 16, 1957 was read with tabulation of the <br />Street Resurfac- four bids received for street resurfacing and referred to him <br />ing bids at the May 1lt, 1957 meeting. Mr. Steffes' letter recommended <br />that the award be made to the Jay W. Craig Company in the <br />amount of their low bid, ffi71,228.00. <br />Legality of Letter of May 16, 1957, from the-Village Attorney was read, <br />bid advising that the Jay W. Craig Company bid was legally <br />sufficient and that it could be accepted by the council if <br />the council determined that the Jay W. Craig Company is <br />the lowest responsible bidder. <br />Resolution - On motion by Utecht, seconded by Stewart, the following <br />resolution was adopted by a unanimous vote: <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Advertisement, Bids for the Sanitary <br />Seger System, Improvement No. I, Part II (Street Resurfacing) <br />were received, opened and tabulated according to law and the <br />following bids were received complying with the advertisement: <br />Jay W. Craig Company; amount, X71,228.00. <br />Bituminous Surface Treating Company; amount, X72,927.00. <br />Ray Sina Contracting Company; amount, $76,392.00. <br />Ashbach Construction Company; amount, X97,374.50. <br />WHEREAS, it appears that Jay W. Craig Company, of 'Minneapolis, <br />is the lowest responsible bidder; <br />NOIP THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Village Council, Village <br />of Falcon Heights, Minnesota: <br />(1) the Mayor and Clerk are hereby authorized and directed <br />to enter into a contract with Jay W. Craig Company, of <br />Minneapolis, Minnesota, in the form attached to the <br />specifications, in the name of the Village of Falcon <br />Heights, for the construction of Sanitary Sewer System, <br />Improvement No. I, Part II (Street Resurfacing), according <br />to the specifications and addendum approved by the Village <br />Council and on file in the office of the Village Clerk; <br /> <br />
