344 <br />Alley back of xas asked to contact Don Julen to see if payment for said <br />Rees business alley repairs could not be handled by Mr. Rees as in previous <br />property years. <br />(cont'd.) <br />Sanitary Sexer Mr. K.E. Deppe, 1907 N. Snelling., inquired regarding the <br />zest of Snelling proposal for construction of sanitary sewer on the zest <br />side of Snelling Avenue south from Roselaxn to about <br />Maple Kno11, Mr. Deppe indicating there xas some opposition <br />in the area to the proposal, Mr. Deppe xas informed that <br />Mr. Deubner has the petition which xas to be submitted to <br />residents of the area, but that the petition has not been <br />received by the council as yet. <br />Concrete Curbing, In connection xith requests for concrete curbing in front <br />1523 and 1535 West of property at 1523 W. Hoyt and 1535 ~• Hoyt, our Village <br />Hoyt Engineer's letter of May 28, 1957, xas read, recommending <br /> that the council establish a broad overall policy xith <br /> reference to curbing on itha~ basis that (1) xhen curbing <br /> is constructed it becomes a permanent installation even <br /> more than the surfacing of streets; (2) once curbing is <br /> constructed, it determines the grade for the street, the <br /> boulevard and sidewalk; (3) also curbing becomes an integral <br /> part of the Village drainage system, providing permanent <br /> gutter lines for storm water run-off. Finally, the letter <br /> stated, curbing be handled by petition the same as any <br /> other improvement and that no petition b e accepted for less <br />Resolution (curbing) than one block of curb at a time. On motion by Nilsen, <br /> seconded by Warkentien, it xas voted unanimously that the <br /> txo requests for curbing be held and that the applicants <br /> be advised of the engineer's recommendation, and that the <br /> council feels the whole block should be done at one time <br /> in accordance xi th the engineer's recommendation, <br />Mayor to attend The Clerk reported that Mayor Utecht xished to attend the <br />League Convention, League of Minnesota Municipalities lt3rd Annual .Convention, <br />Duluth, June 12-13 to be held June 12, 13 and 1~., 1957, at Duluth, Minnesota. <br />and 14 Stewart moved that the request be authorized. Seconded by <br />Shavor and motion carried unanimously. <br />Celebrations on Letter of May 7, 1957 from the Commissioner of Highways <br />highways prohibited relative to laws prohibiting use of trunk highways for <br />local cele~arations xas summarized. <br />Letter re Shell Oil Trustee Warkentien's letter of May 28, 1957, addressed <br />Station premises to the Shell Oil Company, 778 Otto Avenue, St Paul, <br />r®lative to keeping of agreements for improving the <br />appearance of the service station premises at Larpen tour <br />and Albert, xas read and received council approval. <br />McLane licensed to Application from Ernest C. McLane to operate a gasoline <br />operate Shell gasoline service station at 1l~07 Larpenteur Avenue West, for <br />service station the period May 23, 1957 thru June 30, 1957, together <br />with his check for X10.00 covering pro rated license <br />fee, xas presented to the council. .Stewart moved approval <br />of the application and that a copy of Trustee Warkentien's <br />letter of May 28 to the Shell Oil Company relating to this <br />license, be mailed to Mr. McLane. Seconded by Warkentien <br />and motion carried unanimously. <br />
