X120 covering lamp and stationery supplies for Clerk's <br />Clerk office, was approved on motion by Warkentien, seconded <br />by Shavor. <br />Reqn. 121 Fire Department requisition for shirt shield badges <br />and cap badges, approved on motion by Stewart, seconded <br />by Shavor. <br />Fire Chief's Letter of June 10 from A. Carl Kaechele, President, Falcon <br />resignation• Heights Fire Department Relief Association, was read, stating <br />not accepted. that at a special meeting on May 14, 1957, the members of <br />the Association voted unanimously not to accept the resignation <br />of Earl Grumke either as Chief of the Department or as a Volunteer <br />fireman. The letter further stated that in lieu of this, it <br />was passed that a leave of absence not to exceed three months, <br />b® given to Grumke, the leave to-be terminated at any time ha <br />desired to return to active duty prior to the three-month <br />period. It was further stated that Mr. Grumke reported back <br />for regular duty on 9€ay 18, 1957, and has been on duty as <br />Fire Chief since that time. <br />Congregational Letter of June 7, 195?, by R.L. Johnson, Chairman, F~con <br />Church Committee Heights Congre~atione~Churbh Building Committee, was read <br />building request relative to plans for a new Sunday school wing to the build- <br />ing at Holton and Garden Streets, and request that the council <br />grant permission for building within 12 feet of the north <br />property line.. Plans and setbacks provided for therein ware <br />discussed with Mr. Johnson and bsr. S,L. Anonsen, of Thorshov <br />Cerny, Inc., Architects. In connection with off-street <br />parking, Mr. Johnson said the Committee had plans for purchasing <br />nearby lots for parking aryd for exploring the possibility of <br />using the parking lot at the Falcon Heights School. The council '~ <br />agreed that the permit request was in order and that the proposed <br />setbacks arc in accord with the ordinance. Stewart moved that <br />issuance of the permit by the Buildi~ag Inspector be authorized. <br />Seconded by Shavor and motion carried unanimously. <br />Urges children E.C. Barney, Resident Engineer, asked that parents be urged <br />be kept from to keep children away from sewer excavating equipment because <br />excavating equip- of possible injuries from trucks, cave-ins and rocks. <br />meat <br />Fry Street Letter of June 11, 1957, from Mr. Steffes was read relative <br />grade to the print showing the grade established for Fry Street <br />from Larpenteur Avenue north as agreed upon with Mr. Ljungren <br />Proposed Storm Letter of June 13, 1957, from Mr. Steffes was read. regarding <br />Sewer - Arona the engineers'study of drainage conditions on Arona from <br />from California California Avenue to Iowa Avenue, and proposed storm sewer <br />to Iowa system estimated to cost $8,335.40. After discussion of the <br />proposal with Mr. Steffes, it was stated that the cost as shown <br />on the detailed estimate would not be covered by the present sewer <br />pro3ect and would have to be handled as a separate storm sewer <br />project azi~h aotice given as to costs involved, the local nature <br />No change in of the benefits and the small area affected. Shavor moved that <br />sewer pro3ect no change be made in the sewer pro ect at this time and that the <br />voted. streets be restored to their presen~ condition. Seconded by <br />Warkentien and motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />
