<br />SPECIAL MEETING, THURSDAY, AUGUST 1, 1957
<br />Meeting called to order at 7:00 P.M., the following council members being present:
<br />William R. Utecht, Mayor; George J. Shavor, Trustee; Harold C. Nilsen, Trustee;
<br />Clyde J. Stewart, Clerk. Absent: Willis Warkentien, Trustee. Also present:

<br />Alley In connection with the work in the Alley, Block 1, Northome
<br />Hearing Addition, it was reported that the affected property owners
<br />recessed to wished to postpone the hearing further until they could
<br />9-12-57 determine better how the improvement works out. Utecht moved
<br />that the hearing be recessed until 7:00 P.M., Thursday,
<br />September 12, 1957• Seconded by Nilsen and so ordered.
<br />Variance Letter from the Shell Oil Company, dated July 22, 195?, relative
<br />request, to their plans for building a wood rambler fence along the north
<br />Shell Oil. and westerly property lines at 1lt07 best Larpenteur, with the
<br />finished side of the fence toward their service station and
<br />their request for variance from the building code in this connection,
<br />was read. After discussion, and on nation by Shavor, seconded by
<br />Utecht, the following resolution was adopted by a unanimous vote:
<br />Resolution - 1N'HEREAS, the Council feels that the request of Shell
<br />Oil Compat~r for a variance in the building code to permit the
<br />finished side of the fence to face toward the service station
<br />at 1107 West Larpenteur, does. not materially affect adversely
<br />health, safety or general welfare, or public or private
<br />Property.
<br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Village Council,
<br />Village of Falcon Heights, grant the request of Shell Oil
<br />Company to construct its fence in such a manner as set out in
<br />the Co~apany's letter dated July 22, 1957, requesting said
<br />variance.
<br />Bank The .Village Treasurer reported that Sanitary Sewer Improvement No. 1
<br />Transfer bills amounting to #17,157.62, had been paid with Village funds
<br />~1?,157.62 not a part of 5'anitary Sewer Improvement No. 1 Fund, Construction
<br />Account, now established at The First National Bank of Saint Paul
<br />for payment. of such bills. The Treasurer asked that the Council
<br />authorize the necessary bank transfer of the X17,157.62. Utecht
<br />moved approval of the request, seconded by Shavor, and motion
<br />carried unanimously.
<br />Rocks on Letter of July 25, 1957 from the Gage Construction Company was
<br />Autumn St., read, stating that they would remove all rocks placed on Prior
<br />Falcon Wds and Autumn Avenues and that our Sanitary Sewer Engineers should
<br />be so advised.
<br />Sign - On motion by Shavor, seconded by Nilsen, it was voted to approve
<br />Exchange the request of the Exchange Club of Midway St Paul for the placing
<br />Club of of a sign regarding the meeting place and time of said Club, on
<br />Midway the boulevard adjacent to the fence alongside of the Highway Building
<br />St Paul on Snelling Avenue.
