<br />introduced and moved adoption of the following resolution -
<br />RESOLVED, that the Clerk be authorized to write to
<br />the Board of Ramsey County Commissioners, advising them
<br />that the Village Council, Village of Falcon Heights, hereby
<br />goes on record as supporting the Mosquito Control Program
<br />of the Minnesota Department of Agriculture,. and hereby
<br />requests the Board of Ramsey County Commissioners to take
<br />.appropriate steps to 3oin such an abatement program along
<br />with the Boards of Hennepin, Washington, Anoka snd Dakota
<br />Counties.

<br />Mr. A.M. Steffes reported on an investigation of soil editions
<br />on a number of Village streets by the Twin City Testing and
<br />Engineering Laboratory, Inc., of St Paul, to determine the
<br />suitability, as subgrade for roadway construction, of the soils
<br />present. Streets investigated were: Arona, Larpenteur, Idaho,
<br />California, Arona Avenue to Hamiine Avenue; and Idaho Avenue and
<br />Iowa Avenue, from Snelling to Hamline. After discussion of
<br />said conditions and on recommendation of Alr. Steffes, Mayor
<br />Utecht moved that the engineer be authorized to negotiate
<br />with the contractor tp place an additional foot of granular
<br />material over that specified on Arona Avenue, Idaho Avenue
<br />and California Avenue, where tests of the TRin City Testing
<br />and Engineering Laboratory, Inc., indicate two feet of
<br />granular material stabilised in .place will be required due
<br />to condition of the .top soil; also to negotiate with the.
<br />contractor to place 1,000 cubic yards of granular material
<br />at the bid price of X1.20 per foot, or since this is extra
<br />work, at not to exceed X1.50 per cubic yard. Seconded by
<br />Nilsen and motion carried unanimously.

<br />Underground Letter of July 29, 1957, by Mr. R. J. Luey, of the W. F.
<br />storm sewer Stepnitz Agency, was read, requesting. assistance of the
<br />behind Natl Fire Department in putting water pressure at the manhole
<br />Tea. behind the Flameburger as a means of opening the drainage
<br />system running from behind the National Tea Store out to
<br />and south of Larpenteur. After discussion, Utecht moved
<br />that the Clerk be authorised to inform the W.F. Stepnitz
<br />Agency if they will assunee all responsibility for any damages
<br />which may result from flooding, the Council will authorize
<br />the Fire Department to try and open up the said drainage
<br />system with water pressure. Seconded by Stewart and motion
<br />carried unanimously.
