X94 <br />Stabilization of Engineer L~ungren's letter of August 22, 1957 was read relative <br />Falcon 1Noods Add'n. to the findings of our Sanitary Sewer Engineer's and the Twin <br />Streets City Testing Company that the materials placed on Falcon Woods <br />Addition streets were suitable for stabilization, also check <br />and inspection of these streets by the Village Engineer, <br />showing the materials to be unsuitable to receive bituminous <br />stabilization. The letter also stated that Mr. Gage, the <br />developer, had contacted the Ray Sina Construction Company and <br />Jay W. Craig, bituminous contractors, who informed Mr. Gage <br />that the materials in the streets were not of such caliber <br />that they would consider stabilizing said streets. Based <br />on his findings, Engineer L~ungren recommended that the material <br />in the top !t inches of the streets be removed and replaced with ', <br />a more suitable material. <br />Gage asked to After discussion, Stewart moved that the Village Engineer be <br />resurface streets authorized to inform Mr. Gage in writing that it has been <br />per Village definitely determined that the Sewer Contractor has completed <br />requirements axxi met his obligations in relationship to street resurfacing <br />in Falcon Woods Addition, and it is therefore Mr. Gage's <br />responsibility to resurface the streets in accordance with <br />Village requirements and to proceed immediately so that the <br />work will be completed no later than the 15th of September, <br />1957. Seconded by Utecht and motion carried unanimously. <br />Falcon Woods Report was received that there are manytrees in addition <br />Add'n. boulevard to whams there should be on boulevards in the Falcon Woods ,~ <br />trees Addition. The council discussed the matter with Mr. Otto • <br />Bonestroo who was present. It was then agreed that Trustee <br />Nilsen should ask Idr. Parker Anderson, forestry expert, to <br />check into the matter and submit a recommendation. <br />Ponding area, Drainage and other matters pertaining to the ponding area <br />Idaho & Snelling at Idaho and Snelling Avenues, were discussed with Mr. J.E. <br />Garske and A. Carl Kaechele, representing the coffinittee <br />appointed at the July 18, 1957 meeting. On the .basis of <br />Messrs. Garske's and Kaechele's recommendation, Nilsen moved <br />that our Village Engineer be requested to consult with Mr. <br />Steffen regarding the possibilities and ultimate plans for <br />draining the ponding area into the Saint Paul storm sewer <br />when it is installed, with the view of exploring a controlled <br />gravity system, and that a written report be obtained from <br />Mr. Steffen regarding details of this arrangement previously <br />discussed with the City of Saint Paul. Seconded by Stewart <br />and motion carried unanimously. <br />Larpenteur Avenue Engineer L~ungren reported that the County hopes to have <br />storm sewer itn proposed storm sewer on Larpenteur completed to Snelling <br />Avenue by 1958 or 1959. An over-all study of drainage <br />problems in the Vila ge was Suggested by l~r. L~ungren. It <br />was agreed he should ask the County for something in writing <br />regarding the County's storm sewer plans. <br />Culverts needed Mr. Steffen' letter of August 22, 1957 was read with regard <br />on west side of to review of drainage conditions on west side of Hamline Avenue <br />Hamline from alley from the alley south of Larpen tear to the catch basin at Hoyt <br />south of Larpenteur and Iawa and his recommendation that culvert replacements be <br />to catch basin at ordered and installed at locations as listed in his letter <br />Hoyt and Iowa. Total estimated cost of the culverts and aprons was estima~,ed <br />at $1,0711.20. <br /> <br />
