X32 <br />REGULAR MEETING, THURSDAY, DECEMBER 5, 1957 <br />Meeting called to order at 7:35 P.M., the following council members being present: <br />William R. Utecht, Mayor; George J. Shavor, Trustee; Harold C. Nilsen, Trustee; <br />~1i~:~~s'Warkentien, Trustee; Clyde J. Stewart, Clerk. Also present: William E. <br />Olsen, Treasurer; Bernard P. Friel, Attorney. Absent: Frank N. Graham, Attorney. <br />The minutes of November 1l~, 1957 were ordered approved as submitted. <br />Gas Service Engineer Ljungren's letter of December 5, 1957, was read <br />installations relative to the Village Engineer's inspection of gas service <br /> connections since October 1, 1957, with the report that said <br /> connections on surfaced and uesurfaced streets as listed in <br /> the letter, have been satisfactorily backfilled and resurfaced <br /> or patched as necessary. The condition of the gas main trench <br /> adjacent to the alley bounded by California, Larpenteur, Pascal <br /> and Albert, was discussed, with the understanding that Engineer <br />Sanitary Sewer Ljungren rill have the Poxer Company put this in a satisfactory <br />Engineers ask to condition. <br />be advised of <br />gas main extensions Mr. Ljungren also reported on Mr. Steffes' letter of November <br />and house service 21, 1957, regarding the Power Company's requests for installation <br />connections of gas services, and Mr. Steffes' suggestion that our Sanitary <br /> Serer Engineers be advised of the gas main extensions and house <br /> service connections since these may affect the street surfacing <br /> xherQ sewers have been installed by the. Contractor. <br />Proposed construct- Mr. Ljungren reported on his contact with the County on the <br />ion of Larpenteur Ave. , proposed construction of Larpenteur Avenue from Fernwood Ave. <br />Ferrnrood to Snelling, to Snelling Avenue and the construction of a pumping station <br />and drainage matters at the Gottfried pit during the 1958 construction season. <br /> He said the County was in the process of making surveys, and <br /> in connection with the Village's desire to cooperate with the <br /> County on drainage for our area, it was suggested that th e <br /> Village might-make some preliminary studies of areas xhich <br /> cou]d be drained into Larpenteur Avenue and the Gottfried pit <br /> and submit a report. <br />Village maps Mr. Ljungren presented 10 Village maps which he made up, <br /> darkening lines and putting in house numbers at street <br /> intersections, also a large Village map. The latter xaa <br /> turned over to Trustee Shavor. After discussion, 'the <br /> Village Engineer xas authorized to order 15 additional <br /> prints of the smaller Village map, on motion by Warkentien, <br /> seconded by Shavor. <br />Dentist office On motion by Utech t, seconded by Stewart, the application of <br />signs Dr. A.T. Gibbons for permission to install two metal signs, <br /> one at the entrance to his dental office, 1673 Arona, and <br /> the other to project from the building at Arona and Larpenteur, <br /> waa approved. <br />Trustee vacancy- Messrs. William B. Korstad and Paul Coppini, representatives <br />recommendation for oP a Citizens' Committee, appeased before the council to <br />appointment recommend that the council consider for appointment to the <br />Trustee vacancy xhich will occur in January 1958 as a result <br />of Trustee Nilsen's election to the office of Mayor, either <br />of the following, who they said were selected by the Committee <br />on the basis of their qualifications: <br />l <br /> <br />
