The Commission has decided to
recommend to the City Council that the City of Falcon Heights enter into the process set forth in
Minnesota Statute § 115A.94. As part of that recommendation, the Commission has formulated and
offered to the Council a set of preliminary goals to guide the process.
On January 28, 2004, the City Council accepted the recommendation and goals of the Solid Waste
Commission and directed City Staff to initiate the process ordained in Minnesota Statute § 115A.94.
Only single-family residential zones are under consideration; we are not considering changes for
businesses and multi-family residences at this time. We invite residential haulers licensed in Falcon
Heights to be included in the process.
The date for the statutory public hearing is set for Wednesday, March 24, 2004, 7:00 p.m., at the regular
meeting of the City Council, after which the Council will consider a resolution of intent. During the
following 90-day study period, there will be additional public meetings and a meeting for haulers to
provide their input, the dates of which will be announced.
The enclosed letter has been sent to all the residents in our single-family zones to inform them of the
Council's decision to embark on this process. We will keep residents informed with future mailings and
our City newsletter; we will also publish updates as needed on our City website,
http://www. ci.falcon-heights.mn.us.
Please contact me at 651-644-5050 if you have any questions. Our hope is that you will join us in making
this process effective, to the benefit of all our residents.
Sincerely,
Heather M.
