There were a total of 2 bids received. A list of the Contractors and their bids is provided <br />below. An itemized bid tabulation is also attached. <br />CONTRACTOR TOTAL BID <br />Jay Bros, Inc. $ 323,702.71 <br /> <br />• <br />Environmental Associates Inc. $ 492,972.40 <br />The engineer's construction cost estimate for this project was $357,546.00. The low bid of Jay <br />Bros., Inc., is approximately 9.5 percent below the engineer's estimate. <br />Based on a cursory review of the unit cost of Jay Brothers bid, it appears that the City, State Aid <br />Funds, and State Municipal Agreement funds will all share proportionately in the cost reduction <br />from the engineer's estimate to the low bid. <br />It is our understanding that the City Council will consider awarding this project at the May 5th City <br />Council meeting. The bids may not be withdrawn fora 60 day period, starting from the bid opening <br />date. <br />At the appropriate time, we recommend award of the Curtiss Field Pond Improvements Project to <br />Jay Bros, Inc., as the lowest responsible bidder. They have completed several projects with us in <br />the past, where we have found their work to be acceptable.
