•~ FALCON HEIGHTS
2077 W. Larpenteur Avenue
Falcon Heights, MN 55113-5594
email: mail~ci.falcon-heights.mn.us
website: www.ci.falcon-heights.mn.us
MEMORANDUM
August 29, 2003
To: Mayor Gehrz, Councilmembers Kuettel, Lamb, Lindstrom and Talbot
From: Heather Worthington, City Administrator
Re: 2004 Budget Workshop
Phone - (651) 644-5050
Fax - (651) 644-8675
I have attached the following in preparation for the budget workshop next Wednesday,
September 3rd at 6:00 p.m. in the Council chambers:
•
• 2004 General Fund Budget
• Enterprise Fund Budget
• Special Revenue Budget
• 5 Year CIP Budget
• Debt Service Budget
I have also included Councilmember Lamb's Reserve Policy, which he e-mailed a few
weeks ago.
My understanding is that we will discuss the reserve policy first, and the budget second.
I will also have a policy recommendation for you regazding the NE Quadrant hockey
boards, which I discussed in my Friday Report.
As you can see, the General Fund is approximately $137,000 in deficit. This is
comprised of the $101,000 LGA cut, and about $36,000 in additional spending. The
largest share of this additional spending is to staff anadministrative/clerical position to
provide support to Mary and myself, as well as some general accounting assistance to
Roland. We have had multiple discussions about the staffing needs internally, and it was
finally decided that we should retain our current structure of a part-time Recreation
Coordinator, and add a clerical staff position to assist the three of us. The primary reason
• we did not combine these into one full-time job is that it would be more cost effective to
hire two part-time persons; secondly, it would most likely be extremely difficult to find a
HOME OF THE MINNESOTA STATE FAIR AND THE U OF M INSTITUTE OF AGRICULTURE
~~~ PRINTED ON RECYCLED PAPER
