<br />The number and types of access drives onto major streets may <br />be controlled and limited in the interests of public safety <br />and efficient traffic flow. <br />c. Driveway/Accessway Design and Construction Standards <br />(i) For all driveways (resurfaced, reconfigured, <br />reconstructed, relocated, new) <br />(a) Surfacing. All driveways and off-street <br />parking areas shall be permanently surfaced with <br />either concrete or asphalt or impervious decorative <br />pavement such as brick between the street and <br />garage. (This does not require the resurfacing of <br />existing driveways with parallel tracks into one <br />contiguous surface.) <br />(b) Pavement De th. The minimum pavement <br />thickness or ash alt driveways shall be two <br />inches (2") of bituminous surfacing on four inches <br />(4") of aggregate base. The minimum pavement <br />thickness for concrete driveways shall be three and <br />one-half inches (3 1/2") for R-1 and R-2 structures <br />of concrete for multi-family and commercial <br />buildings on two inches (2") of aggregate base. <br />• (c) Slope. The minimum driveway slope as measured <br />from a edge of the street to the right-of-way <br />line, shall be 1~ and the maximum driveway slope <br />shall be 10~. <br />(d) Sidewalk. In areas where sidewalks currently <br />exist, a new or reconstructed driveways shall <br />require 6" deep concrete sidewalk to be constructed <br />to match the existing sidewalk width, when the <br />existing sidewalk is affected by the permanent <br />change. <br />(2) For new, reconfigured and relocated driveways: <br />(a) Curb Gutter. All new driveways connecting to <br />existing concre a curb and gutter section shall be <br />constructed with a five foot (5') radius. The <br />existing concrete curb and gutter at the driveway <br />opening shall be removed from the nearest joints to <br />the driveway location. Saw cutting of the existing <br />curb will not be allowed. Concrete gutter shall be <br />placed through the driveway opening to properly <br />drain the street. Expansion joint material shall' <br />be placed at the curb, sidewalk (if applicable) and <br />right-of-way line as part of the driveway <br />construction. <br />2 <br />• <br />
