OF FALCON HEIGHTS <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />ITEM DESCRIPTION: Discussion of the proposed concept plan and <br />ra ~o ides o get direction on specific plan/policy <br />directions where the Commission expressed questions. <br />SUBMITTED BY: <br />REVIEWED BY: <br />Susan Hoyt, City Planner <br />Susan Hoyt, City Planner <br />EXPLANATION/DESCRIPTION: <br />Due to time constraints, a second revision of the policies is <br />not attached to this agenda item, but will be distributed at the <br />meeting. However, there are some key points in the concept plan <br />and draft policies that Commissioners questioned or expressed <br />reservations about at the special Planning Commission meeting on <br />November 13, 1990. Therefore, before proceeding further with <br />the policies, some clarification is necessary. Of course, any <br />other plan elements or policies are open for discussion too. <br />A. CONCEPT PLAN: <br />1. The proposed location of a neighborhood retail center in the <br />vicinity of Lindig and Larpenteur <br />2. The identification of Gibbs Schoolhouse as an historic site <br />B. POLICIES: <br />1. (TRANSPORTATION) To cooperate with the University of <br />Minnesota in reducing their dependence on Cleveland Avenue as <br />a main entrance to the campus. <br />2. (GENERAL DEVELOPMENT) To restrict developments throughout <br />the City to three stories or 35 feet in height. <br />ATTACHMENT 1 Memo discussing these plan elements/policy <br />issues <br />ATTACHMENT 2 Bugle article on Gibbs Schoolhouse <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />1. Discuss and clarify Commission position on the plan elements <br />and policies. <br /> <br />
