Meeting Date 10-22-90 <br />Agenda Item E-7 <br />CITY OF FALCON HEIGHTS <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />ITEM DESCRIPTION: Information on an upcoming discussion with the <br />City Council on retroactively enforcing rear and side yard <br />screening between businesses and residential properties, section <br />9-14.01 Subd. 5(b)(d)(e) of the zoning code. <br />SUBMITTED BY: Susan Hoyt, City Planner <br />EXPLANATION/DESCRIPTION• <br />The City Council will be discussing the policy of retroactive <br />screening of businesses included in section 9-14.01, subd. <br />5(b)(d)(e) of the zoning code. The screening of existing <br />businesses from adjacent residential zones is desirable. This is <br />routinely included in site plans for new development prior to <br />approval. However, retroactive enforcement requires greater <br />sensitivity to consistency in the business community, existing <br />site limitations, and additional expense to property owners.
