• security system provide security to the individual residence but it prevents abreak-in <br />from accessing the entire building. <br />Units with windows that are 4 feet and above grade do not necessarily require security <br />systems. <br />Sliding glass doors are less safe than single glass doors with solid frames and dead bolt <br />locks. Be sure to alert your window manufacturer of the need for additional locking <br />capability due to sliding glass doors at ground level. Additional locking devices can be <br />installed at the factory, if requested. <br />5. Retail: <br />One customer entry is essential for control by the business. The cash register needs to be <br />located near the entry as well. Customers need to enter on Snelling and / or Larpenteur ; <br />we assume sidewalks, lighting, etc. will be provided from the parking to the entry in <br />order for customers of feel safe. The back retail entrances should be locked /alarmed <br />and used only as a service entrance. <br />Lighting is a very inexpensive method for providing security -especially after business <br />hours. If possible, provide a single row of lighting along retail display windows on a <br />separate switch. Leaving this row of lighting on after-hours gives the illusion of "the <br />store is open" and provides additional lighting on the sidewalk and streetscape for a <br />feeling of safety.
