a. The sign area allowance for a combination of lots in <br />in aggregate shall not exceed fifty (50) square feet; <br />b. The signs are located at least one hundred thirty (130) <br />feet from any home; <br />c. The signs are removed within one (1) year unless an <br />extension is given from the zoning administrator. <br />d. A use permit is granted by the zoning administrator. Real <br />estate signs over thirty-two (32) square feet per lot frontage <br />and exceeding other sign area limits in business and industrial <br />areas shall require a variance. <br />Subdivision 9. Private Traffic Si ns. Private traffic circulation signs in parking <br />lots and pedestrian circulation signs in alleys or other hazardous situations may be <br />permitted provided such individual signs do not exceed three (3) square feet, the <br />minimum number necessary for purposes intended is utilized, and such signs are utilized <br />exclusively for purposes intended and permitted. <br />Subdivison 10. Vacant Lots. Signs on vacant lots shall be permitted in accordance <br />with this chapter except where governed by building frontage, in such cases, front footage <br />of public right-of--way shall be utilized. <br />• Subdivision 11. Rooftop Displays and Aerial Searchlights. Rooftop balloons and <br />rooftop displays are not permitted except in a commercial zone for a maximum of five <br />days for a business grand opening or a special civic event sponsored or endorsed by the <br />Falcon Heights city council. A temporary sign permit is required for the balloon. Aerial <br />search lights are not permitted. (Amended by Ordinance 0-93-05, 5/26/93). <br />Subdivision 12. Suns on Windows and Doors. This chapter does not apply to <br />interior signs painted, attached by adhesive, or otherwise attached directly to or visible <br />through windows and glass portion of doors except that such signs shall not be permitted <br />in "EB", "B-1", and "B-1-A" districts. <br />Subdivision 13. Ground Signs. <br />a. No ground sign shall be erected, constructed, altered, rebuilt, or relocated <br />to a height exceeding twenty (20) feet above ground. <br />b. The bottom of the facing of every ground sign shall be at least thirty (30) <br />inches above the ground, which space may be filled with platform or decorative <br />trim of light wood, metal construction, brick, planters or plantings, etc. <br />8 <br />• <br />
