• location, size and design of such access drives and may limit the number of access <br />drives in the interest of public safety and efficient traffic flow. The zoning <br />administrator may refer the request for an access drive permit onto a road to the <br />planning commission for their comments. <br />c. Driveway/Accesswa~gn and Construction Standards. <br />1. For all driveways (resurfaced, reconfigured, reconstructed, relocated, <br />new) <br />(a) Surfacing. All driveways and off-street parking areas shall be <br />permanently surfaced with either concrete or asphalt or <br />impervious decorative pavement such as brick between the street <br />and garage. (This does not require the resurfacing of existing <br />driveways with parallel tracks into one contiguous surface.) <br />(b) Pavement Depth. The minimum pavement thickness for <br />asphalt driveways shall be two inches (2") of bituminous <br />surfacing on four inches (4") of aggregate base. The minimum <br />pavement thickness for concrete driveways shall be three and one- <br />half inches (3 1/2") of concrete for R-1 and R-2 structures and six <br />inches (6") of concrete for multi-family and commercial buildings. <br />Two inches (2") of aggregate base is required for all concrete <br />driveways. <br />(c) Slope. The minimum driveway slope as measured from the <br />edge of the street to the right-of--way line, shall be 1% and the <br />maximum driveway slope shall be 10%. <br />(d) Sidewalk. In areas where sidewalks currently exist, all new or <br />reconstructed driveways shall require 6" deep concrete sidewalk <br />to be constructed to match the existing sidewalk width, when the <br />existing sidewalk is affected by the permanent change. <br />2. For new, reconfigured and relocated driveways: <br />(a) Curb/Gutter. All new driveways connecting to existing <br />concrete curb and gutter section shall be constructed with a five <br />foot (5') radius. The existing concrete curb and gutter at the <br />driveway opening shall be removed from the nearest joints to the <br />driveway location. Saw cutting of the existing curb will not be <br />allowed. Concrete gutter shall be placed through the driveway <br />opening to properly drain the street. Expansion joint material shall <br />be placed at the curb, sidewalk (if applicable) and right-of--way line <br />as part of the driveway construction. <br />• 12 <br />
