• Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan <br />Trails Goals <br />To provide an interconnected park and open space system that provides pedestrian <br />and bicycle linkages throughout the City. <br />Continue coordination between the University of Minnesota and the City <br />regarding the trail network. <br />Parks and Trails Policy <br />• Build trails as an integral part of the upgrading of collector and arterial streets. <br />Transit <br />Public Transit Goals <br />• To improve the quality of and increase the emphasis on public transit, non- <br />motorized and pedestrian travel. <br />• To encourage planning and design that increases and complements transit use. <br />Public Transit Policies <br />• • Continue to work wi <br />th the Metropolitan Council to determine future transit <br />services consistent with the City's transit market area and its associated service <br />standards and strategies. <br />• Reduce overall travel demand by cooperating with the University of Minnesota in <br />developing a Travel Demand Management (TDM) strategy and encouraging <br />programs that provide alternatives to single occupant automobiles. <br />• Evaluate the need for and the location of transit services in conjunction with <br />surrounding communities. <br />• Coordinate public transit with all transit planning and delivery agencies to <br />improve transit services (MTC, RTB, Ramsey County Regional Railroad <br />Authority). <br />• Continue to coordinate with the County Regional Railroad Authority in the <br />implementation of LRT plans. <br />• <br />Falcon Heights Comprehensive Plan 2008 Draft -January, 2008 Part III: Inftastructure, Page III-15 <br />
