Resolution of Intent <br />Organized/integrated <br />8/22/90 <br />Page 2 <br />Refuse Collection <br />number of trucks operating in a given street or alley to make the <br />system more efficient, (4) improve recycling convenience for the <br />homeowner, thereby increasing participation, and (5) reduce litter <br />and illegal dumping; now, therefore, be it <br />RESOLVED, that the City Council hereby intends to consider <br />organized refuse collection for single-family to four-plex <br />dwellings as the basis for an integrated solid waste management <br />system; and, be it <br />FURTHER RESOLVED, that this general sequence of events should <br />be followed: <br />1. Begin the required minimum 180 day planning period by <br />identifying preliminary system options to be considered: <br />the administration will analyze at least the following <br />collection system plans or proposals: <br />a. Modifications of the present open system. <br />b. Citywide negotiated system (one single contract). <br />c. Citywide competitive bid system (one single contract) . <br />d. City controlled multiple-district systems. (Multiple, <br />separate bid contracts). <br />2. Establish standards and criteria of service for an <br />integrated solid waste management system including <br />revision of Section 5-4.01 of the City Code. <br />3. Solicit plans or proposals from refuse haulers concerning <br />refuse collection system configuration. <br />L <br />
