surveyed several surrounding communities regarding the availability of
public phones in parks. This information was made available to the
commission to facilitate discussion. The commission felt strongly that the
city's best interests were served by pulling the phone, and that the decision
had been made very thoughtfully. The commission overwhelmingly felt
that the presence of a phone was a greater liability than an asset.
Undesirable activity immediately decreased after the phone was removed.
The commission voted unanimously to uphold it's original decision. The
concerned resident was unable to attend the meeting but did receive copies
of all documents.
Submitted by Nancy Wickhem -Chair and Secretary
•
•
