• STAFF REPORT: Community Park playground equipment replacement <br />SUBMITTED BY: Bill Maertz, Director of Parks and Public Works <br />EXPLINATION/DESCRIPTION <br />The "Big Toy" at Community Park is scheduled for replacement in 2003. <br />Reasons for replacing "Big Toy" <br />• Parts made from treated lumber which contain toxic chemicals <br />• Tires hold water which can become breeding ground for mosquitoes <br />• Slide is damaged <br />• Repairs to splintered lumber create liability <br />• Not ADA compliant <br />This small play structure is geared towards children ages 2-5. Community <br />• Park currently lacks play equipment geared towards creative play. Staff <br />recommends a replacement structure which stimulates the imagination in <br />this young age group (examples included). <br />ACTIONS REQUESTED: <br />• Recomendation that staff solicit price quotes for play structures that <br />encourage creative play. <br />• Decide whether to pursue a contribution from the Lauderdale/ Falcon <br />Heights Lions Club. <br />(Note: prices do not include installation) <br />• <br />3 <br />
