Minutes <br />• <br />City of Falcon Heights, Park and Recreation Commission Meeting <br />October 8, 2007 <br />6:30PM <br />Meeting Chair. Gene Ozasky <br />Minutes By: Lisa Abernathy <br />Present: Annie Green, Pam Harris, Eric Maronde, Tim Pittman, Paula Mielke <br />Absent: Michael Thomas <br />Guest: Beth Mercer-Taylor <br />1. Meeting called to order 6:30 PM <br />2. Approval of minutes September 10, 2007 Meeting. <br />Motion made by Green and seconded by Maronde <br />• 3. Staff Report <br />Recreation Update- Abernathy reported that new sessions for Yoga and Tae <br />Kwon do would be starting or have started already. Both seem to have a good <br />number of participants be we will continue to market them to increase <br />participation. Family open gym will be beginning in November. Abernathy has <br />been working on hiring gym attendants for this program. Abernathy also <br />reported that the program will only be held in the north gym this year due to <br />Friendship Connection taking over the south gym. Mielke asked about us <br />using the multipurpose room (lunch room) as an alternative. Abernathy will be <br />looking into using that area to diminish any conflicts we may have with <br />everyone being in one gym. Abernathy is also programming for winter/spring <br />so will be exploring different ideas for art classes to add some variety to what <br />has been done in the past. Mielke gave Abernathy some ideas of some local <br />art organizations/companies to look into. <br />Pittman updated the Commission on the updates they have been working on <br />at Curtiss Field bush trimmings, sidewalk completion and the handicap parking <br />space. Pittman and Abernathy also updated the Commission that we will not <br />be putting the hockey boards up at Community Park this year due to the lack <br />of water pressure to make quality ice and its usage number. To keep a rink on <br />• the west side of town there will be a hockey rink with boards set up at Grove <br />Park. Mielke asked if a temporary warming shelter would be put in at Grove. <br />Pittman said they were looking into it as they will also need to run electricity to <br />
