Minutes <br />• <br />City of Falcon Heights, Park and Recreation Commission Meeting <br />November 19, 2007 <br />6:30PM <br />Meeting Chair. Gene Ozasky <br />Minutes By. Lisa Abernathy <br />Present: Pam Harris, Eric Maronde, Paula Mielke, Michael Thomas <br />Absent: Annie Green, Tim Pittman and Paul Faust <br />Guest: Laura Kwong <br />1. Meeting called to order 6:30 PM <br />2. Approval of minutes October 8, 2007 Meeting. <br />• Motion made by Maronde and seconded by Thomas <br />3. Staff Report <br />Recreation Update- Abernathy reported that the winter/spring flyer has gone <br />out to schools and will be inserted in the upcoming City newsletter going to <br />homes the beginning of December. Parent/Child craft classes with Nancy <br />Ganger have been going very well so Abernathy has set up classes with her <br />through April. Abernathy also reported that rink attendant interviews are <br />currently takin~q place and hope to have the rinks up and going by Friday, <br />December 21 S .Abernathy reported on Pittman's behalf that the hockey <br />boards are starting to be installed in all the designated parks as well as the <br />temporary warming houses are scheduled to be delivered November 26t". The <br />power supply at Grove Park is sufficient enough to handle the temporary <br />shelter so there is no need to spend money on having electricity hooked up as <br />was discussed last month. Finally Abernathy reported that the new park signs <br />at Community Park and Grove Park will be installed soon. <br />4. 2008 Winterfest-Guest Laura Kwong introduced herself and her idea of <br />starting a 5K race in the City of Falcon Heights. Abernathy noted that this <br />might be a good event to add on to the City's winter event due to the <br />summer's Ice Cream Social being on a week night as well as that is a time <br />when many families take summers end vacations. Mielke had the idea of <br />making the run more of a fun run where anyone can participate and then make <br />it a fund raiser for the scholarship fund. Abernathy noted she had some <br />
