The problem with the Job Corp kids continues at night. Carol K called and found they
have hired a new director to address some of these problems. Their security department will
make the park part of their patrol rounds. Carol K will tell the neighbors to call the director, not
just keep going to the police. It is his job to prevent these problems. The Roseville police
won't patrol the park adequately.
4) Summer Programs
The staff has been good, with many returns from previous summers. The seniors
enjoyed using the new facility for their picnic. The Junior Leaders program was a big success.
All the kids got a t-shirt, and the program was free. The kids helped out the regular instructors
in the rest of the summer program. There were about 10 kids. Carol K said the coaching staff
made them feel appreciated. These kids are potential future staff for the rec programs. About
40 people attended the Family Fire Safety Seminar. There were 6 scholarships handed out for
598. The city council approved a loan to keep the program going. Carol W thought it might be
good to give the "abandoned kids" at Curtiss Field scholarships to some of our programs.
5. Ice Cream Social
The ice cream social will be July 30 from 6 - 8:30 pm. Tricia and the Toons will be
performing. We discussed potential recognition for the staff and Junior Leaders. One idea for
the Junior Leaders was a baseball cap signed by the kids in the sport they are helping with.
Signed soccer balls might be nice for the 4 coaches. Carol K has informed us (after this
meeting) that we can't serve homemade cakes and she is making other arrangements. We will
serve coffee, lemonade and ice cream.
6. Serving Food at Community Park
It has been suggested that we sell juice, chips and ice cream during games at the park.
Next year we may be able to subcontract with a food service to provide dinner type items for
parents while they are at games.
5. As there was no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:45 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
~c
Linda McLoon, Secretary
