MINUTES <br />REGULAR PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING <br />• JANUARY 9, 1989 <br />PAGE 2 <br />Commission members questioned just exactly what Mr. Hunt was asking <br />for--was a variance needed for the take-out deli at this time. <br />Since the deli was phase one of two phases, Commission members wanted <br />Mr. Hunt to understand that the overall picture needed to be examined. <br />They don't want a J_ot of money spent in the remodeling of the shopping <br />center and when a variance is needed for phase two (which could <br />be approved or denied), a hardship issue couJ.d not be used as an <br />excuse for approval. The overall picture and parking scheme needs <br />to be examined by the City Staff, Planning Commission and Council. <br />Mr. Hunt stated that many rental spaces are vacant and taxes are <br />very high on the shopping center property. In order for the shopping <br />center to stay healthy financially, the vacant spaces need to be <br />rented. <br />ITEM TO <br />Boche moved, seconded by Daykin, to lay the issue over to the next BE RE- <br />Planning Commission meeting, which will be held on January 23, 1989 EXAMINED <br />at which time Mr. Hunt should come back with requested further information. <br />Motion Caried unanimously. 1/23/89 <br />The Planning Commission next considered amending Section 9-14.01, <br />• Subd. 4(b) of the City Code relating to setbacks for side yards SIDE <br />abutting streets. Planner Malloy distributed a lengthy memorandum YARD <br />on residential setback variances. After a discussion, the Planning SETBACKS <br />Commission laid over the setback issue to allow time for members TO BE <br />to review Malloy's January 9th letter and recommendations. LAID <br />OVER <br />Planner Malloy then reviewed the Administrative Procedures Manual <br />and Subdivision Code Revision changes requested at the last meeting. ADMIN. <br />Planning Commission members will review such documents and will PROCED. <br />formally approve them at the Januaray 23rd meeting.
