ADDENDUM ADDENDUM ADDENDUM ADDENDUM ADDENDUM ADDENDUM <br /> Meeting Date: 10/13/92 <br /> Agenda Item: P -8 <br /> CITY OF FALCON HEIGHTS <br /> REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION <br /> ITEM DESCRIPTION: Proposal for rental of sewer jetter to the <br /> City of Lauderdale <br /> SUBMITTED BY: Susan Hoyt, City Administrator <br /> REVIEWED BY: Tom Kelly, City Accountant <br /> Vince Wright, Public Works Foreman <br /> EXPLANATION /SUMMARY: <br /> At the July policy workshop the council discussed the possibility <br /> of cooperative arrangements with other cities, specifically <br /> dealing in the area of public works. Discussions with the city <br /> administrator indicate that the City of Lauderdale is interested <br /> in renting the city's sewer jetter for three to five days to <br /> complete the cleaning of the storm sewer. Lauderdale previously <br /> contracted with a private company for both the labor and <br /> machinery. <br /> Falcon Heights has an up -to -date sewer jetter, which is used <br /> about one month out of the year and on an as- needed basis. The <br /> city also has an experienced temporary employee that can be <br /> assigned to this project. Therefore, the city can provide the <br /> jetter with an experienced person to work on the project. <br /> Staff drafted the attached proposal with the assumption that the <br /> city wants to cover its expenses for the machine but not recoup a <br /> profit on this cooperative arrangement. This approach is how <br /> the staff wants the city to be approached by other municipalities <br /> when service costs are involved. Therefore, the prices proposed <br /> are not designed to undercut the cost of the rent on the private <br /> market, but to cover any costs of ownership and maintenance on <br /> the machine. The rental fee of $18 /hour of machine use is based <br /> upon the depreciation schedule for the machine and the materials <br /> used since this is the cost to the city of owning and maintaining <br /> the machine.
