make its recommendation to the City Council for consideration at the
Council meeting on January 13, 1993. Approximately six weeks will
remain to negotiate the contract, if a bid is selected, or to
request rebidding if no response is acceptable.
TONNAGE REPORTS; The Commission discussed the monthly tonnage
reports, noting that it presently costs the City to recycle
plastics. Shirley Chenoweth explained that the reported figures are
down from previous months because Waste Management, which began
collecting from Commonwealth Terrace in August, obtains its figures
by averaging collection from several communities rather than
providing an actual measurement.
IVERSON REQUEST FOR LEAVE: John Brynildson moved and Lyle Wray
seconded the approval of Terry Iverson`s request for a leave of
absence from the Commission until 1993.
YARD WASTE REPORTS: Haulers are required by the terms of their
licenses to report yard waste collections, and Shirley Chenoweth
will request that they comply. Some haulers may not keep actual
measurements of yard waste and may be providing estimated or
averaged figures.
John Brynildson moved and Susan Smith seconded adjournment of the
meeting at 8:56 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
4412A1A
Susan K.
