Meeting Date: 5/12/93
Agenda Item: P 1
CITY OF FALCON HEIGHTS
REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION
ITEM DESCRIPTION: Initiation of neighborhood meetings on a
proposed alley reconstruction program
SUBMITTED BY: Terry Mauer, City Engineer
Susan Hoyt, City Administrator
REVIEWED BY:
EXPLANATION /SUMMARY:
This time of year the city's alleys in the Northome neighborhoods
are in rough shape. Last fall the council discussed initiating
an alley reconstruction program along with its street improvement
program. The condition of the alleys may make it desirable to
make some or all of these alleys a priority for reconstruction
including improved drainage in 1994.
In order to begin this project, staff plans to meet with the
neighborhood residents and discuss their concerns about the
alleys and see how critical they view the situation.
An alley assessment at 100% of the cost of the work would be
about $750 to $1,000 per 50 foot lot.
Staff is tentatively planning a May 25, 1993 meeting date.
ATTACHMENTS:
A Letters from city engineer, Terry Mauer, dated 6 May 1993
and 3 September 1992
ACTION REQUESTED:
Approve the concept of an alley reconstruction program beginning
with a neighborhood meeting tentatively set for May 25, 1993.
