Consent Consent Consent Consent Consent Consent Consent Consent <br /> Meeting Date: 5/26/93 <br /> Agenda Item: C 8 <br /> CITY OF FALCON HEIGHTS <br /> REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION <br /> ITEM DESCRIPTION: Claim for sidewalk reconstruction done by <br /> property owner prior to the 1993 street <br /> project <br /> SUBMITTED BY: Ms. Carolyn Collins, 1603 Northrop <br /> REVIEWED BY: Susan Hoyt, City Administrator <br /> EXPLANATION /SUMMARY: <br /> At the assessment hearing for the 1993 street project on May 12, <br /> 1993, Ms. Collins stated that she had replaced 100 feet (97 feet <br /> in front of her house) of sidewalk in the public right -of -way in <br /> 1992 in response to a letter dated July 13, 1992 from the city <br /> asking that the property owner repair the portion of the sidewalk <br /> with yellow marking(s)in front of his /her property at 1603 <br /> Northrop. A letter from the city dated August 17, 1992 suggested <br /> that property owners merely patch any sidewalk problems due to <br /> the upcoming street project in 1993. The letter did not state <br /> that the city planned to include sidewalks in the street project <br /> because the detailed street plans were not known at that time. <br /> Mrs. Collins went ahead with her plans to repour her sidewalk as <br /> part of a remodeling project in the fall of 1992 for a cost of <br /> $2,250. <br /> After listening to Mrs. Collins concerns about paying for <br /> sidewalk replacement at a cost higher than she would have been <br /> assessed for replacement in 1993, the council agreed to reimburse <br /> her for what the city would have assessed her for her sidewalk <br /> reconstruction 82 feet minus 12 feet of driveway or 70 ft.) for <br /> 560.00. <br /> 70 ft. X 8/ ft 560.00 <br /> The city is covering approximately 3.50/ front foot of the <br /> sidewalk reconstruction costs (outside of the driveways) as part <br /> of the street project.
