Her home faces Coffman but has a Hoyt address. The
proposed walkway would be quite close to her front door and
bedroom windows and she would like this section of walk deleted
from the project. In addition, construction of the walkway will
necessitate severe trimming of two spruce, a crabapple and one
birch tree on the property. Three spruce trees on Coffman along
the commons area just north of the property will need to be
removed.
It is possible this stretch of walkway is not needed for
pedestrian safety as the walkway from Larpenteur to Folwell will
join the Folwell sidewalk allowing off street passage for
pedestrians. Ms. Cherlin indicated that very few persons walk
the Folwell to Hoyt section.
The city engineers have met with Mr. and Mrs. Cherlin and will
attend the council meeting for this discussion. The contractor
indicated there would be no problem with the deletion of this
section of the walkway from the contract.
ACTION REQUESTED: Authorize deletion of the portion of the
walkway on Coffman between Folwell and Hoyt
:::Pol e
