Some additional carpentry work is necessary to smooth the transition from the raised area to the floor level and the sound equipment needs to be installed. Since the final carpentry work requires carpeting the area that has been remodeled during construction, it is timely to consider requesting proposals for re- carpeting the entire area. The carpeting in city hall is almost twelve years old. Besides being used for several city events, it is used by a number of community and private groups for activities ranging from a mineral club to wedding receptions to a neighborhood holiday party for Maple Knoll Court residents. The area is used on an average of three to four nights a week and one day per weekend throughout the year. For those groups that pay for its use, the city charges $30 for the first two hours of use and $20 for every hour after that use. The estimated cost for carpeting including the installation of the 260 square yard area is $3,900 to $10,800. $15 per yard 3,900 $20 per yard 7,200 $30 per yard $10,800 The 1993 budget and the proposed 1994 budget include $10,000 for carpeting this area.
