MINUTES <br /> Solid Waste Commission Meeting <br /> October 14, 1993 <br /> Chair Marty McCleery called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m. <br /> COMMISSION MEMBERS PRESENT: John Hustad, Terry Iverson, Marty <br /> McCleery, Nancy Misra, Susan Smith, Sam Jacobs, Shirley <br /> Chenoweth, staff representative <br /> COMMISSION MEMBERS ABSENT: John Brynildson, Michael Haglund, <br /> Laura Kuettel, Lyle Wray <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Terry Iverson moved and John Hustad <br /> seconded approval of the September 9, 1993 minutes. <br /> 1. Solid Waste Reduction Week Open House. Marty McCleery <br /> estimated over 100 people attended the open house. Thank you to <br /> all attendees. Cooperative effort between Falcon Heights and <br /> Lauderdale brought residents from both communities. Exhibits <br /> were great, public education information was great from all <br /> agencies. Shirley Chenoweth suggested next year larger lettering <br /> be placed on signs for view from roadways and that notices be <br /> posted at local businesses. John Hustad said event publicity was <br /> at the last minute let's coincide with Solid Waste Newsletter. <br /> 2. Final Adoption of Goals and Oblectives. The title of <br /> the solid waste commission goals objectives is "1993 <br /> Accomplishments and 1994 Goals." The commission wishes to <br /> present the report at the December 8 council meeting. (Shirley <br /> will put this request on the council agenda.) There was a <br /> discussion on high participation by Falcon Heights residents and <br /> the large increase in apartment participation. Marty McCleery <br /> will quantify household tonnage using Ramsey County statistics. <br /> He will use these accomplishments /activities to make the <br /> presentation to the council and will organize this with Shirley's <br /> help. Priority issues could be: <br /> a. Household tonnage <br /> b. Cooperative effort between Falcon Heights and <br /> Lauderdale <br /> c. Commercial survey Cooperative effort with Ramsey <br /> County. Marty McCleery suggested a letter be requested <br /> from Ramsey County as to the outcome of Falcon Height's <br /> commercial survey. Needed ASAP for Marty to review for <br /> the council meeting. <br /> 3. Consideration of a citywide garage sale. A citywide <br /> garage sale seems to meet the goal of the solid waste commission <br /> regarding exchange of products. Sam Jacobs proposed putting a <br /> symbolic sign in front of each participating house. Saturday, <br /> May 21, 1994 was the date proposed for the 1st annual citywide <br />
