Meeting Date: 10/13/93 Agenda Item: P 4 CITY OF FALCON HEIGHTS REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION ITEM DESCRIPTION: Contract for relocation services for the 1993 Community Development Block Grant SUBMITTED BY: Susan Hoyt, City Administrator EXPLANATION /SUMMARY: Staff is moving ahead with the acquisition of the property 2061 West Larpenteur Avenue. The project has three distinct aspects 1) acquisition, 2) relocation and 3) demolition. As the city proceeds with purchasing the property, the residents of the house must be relocated. After discussing relocation requirements with Ramsey County Block Grant officials, it is most expeditious to proceed by using a relocation specialist to complete this task. This will guarantee that the required procedures are followed in a timely way, that the residents will be relocated by people who are accustomed to working with individuals in a similar situation and that the city staff can proceed with the arranging for the acquisition and demolition of the property. In order to do this, staff recommends hiring the firm of Conworth for relocation services at an hourly rate of $65 /hour with a maximum cost of $2,470.00. The cost will be covered from the $110,000 in the CDBG grant. (The remaining grant will cover the actual relocation costs of the individuals and some of the acquisition costs.) This firm is very experienced with relocating families and individuals. A second agency, the Washington County Housing Authority, was unable to provide the city with this service due to its busy workload. ATTACHMENTS: A Proposal from Conworth, Inc.
