Meeting Date: 12/16/93 <br /> Agenda Item: P 5 <br /> CITY OF FALCON HEIGHTS <br /> REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION <br /> ITEM DESCRIPTION: Discuss ways to notify disabled citizens who <br /> rely on MTC routes to contact city hall to <br /> help arrange for bus stop snow removal if it <br /> affects their accessibility to the bus stop <br /> SUBMITTED BY: Susan Hoyt, City Administrator <br /> EXPLANATION /SUMMARY: <br /> It is difficult to commit the city to removing snow from bus <br /> stops due to other snow removal demands and expenses. Therefore, <br /> at the November 24, 1993 council meeting the mayor and council <br /> requested that staff think about how to assist with arranging for <br /> snow to be removed from bus stops that are routinely used by <br /> disabled individuals in the community, whose access to the bus <br /> stop is impeded by snow. <br /> Staff suggests that the city place a public notice or a small <br /> display ad in the FOCUS and Bugle inviting disabled persons who <br /> rely on routine transit service and are impeded by snow removal <br /> to contact the city about the bus stop they use. Once the staff <br /> receives a call from a person, a staff member can talk about <br /> having the snow removed by a nearby business owner or resident on <br /> a regular basis. <br /> ACTION REQUESTED: <br /> Discuss and direct staff on ways to arrange for snow removal from <br /> bus stops that are routinely used by disabled individuals that <br /> are impeded by snow at the bus stop. <br />
