Meeting Date: 1/12/94 <br /> Agenda Item: C 9 <br /> CITY OF FALCON HEIGHTS <br /> REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION <br /> ITEM DESCRIPTION: Purchase of Computer <br /> SUBMITTED BY: Susan Hoyt, City Administrator <br /> EXPLANATION /SUMMARY: The administrator is requesting a full size <br /> computer with a color screen to use in her office to replace the <br /> TOSHIBA lap top computer she's been using both as a portable and <br /> office computer over the past 2 1/2 years. The laptop is <br /> portable and very useful but cannot serve the needs of the <br /> administrator who prepares most documents in at least draft form <br /> and much correspondence in final form. The laptop screen is <br /> difficult to see and the memory is not capable of handling a <br /> complete wordprocessing program with spell check and various <br /> print sizes. A larger memory will also accommodate a spreadsheet <br /> program. <br /> This proposed purchase fits into the overall plan of making sure <br /> that all staff members have easy access to a computer. The <br /> laptop will continue in use for work done outside the office and <br /> for other staff members in the office (like an intern). <br /> Prices were collected from 3 computer companies to cover a 486 <br /> machine with a 14 inch color screen. <br /> Gateway (mail order) $1,430 <br /> PC Tailors (Roseville) $1,379 <br /> PC Express (St. Louis Park) $1,629 <br /> Staff recommends purchasing the machine from PC Tailors out of <br /> the 1994 administrative capital funds which has $4,000 budgeted <br /> for computer needs. <br /> ACTION REQUESTED: Approve the purchase of a computer from PC <br /> Tailors for $1,379 out of the 1994 administrative capital funds. <br /> Consent:::: Consent Consent Consent Consent Cons <br />
