Johnson; <br /> John Treadwell; and Gwen Willems <br /> The Human Rights Commission would like to support the attendance of one of our <br /> members, Gwen Willems, at an international human rights conference held in New <br /> Brunswick in June 1994. Registration is due March 15. Gwen serves as a member of <br /> Minnesota League of Human Rights Commissions and, as the League's representative, <br /> she will be bringing our materials to the conference as well as bringing back information, <br /> perspectives, and strategies for dealing with human rights issues that Canadian agencies <br /> have in common with Minnesota commissions. <br /> The League is funding her registration fees and transportation, and we would like to <br /> contribute $100 to help defray costs. International human rights are of great interest to <br /> Gwen, who's had the opportunity to learn about the International Declaration of Human <br /> Rights and international human rights issues through her graduate work at the <br /> University of Minnesota. She's also a volunteer with the University's Human Rights <br /> fi <br /> Center. <br /> Attached is an estimated budget for the commission, indicating this one -time -only <br /> expenditure will take the commission slightly over budget. We request council approval <br /> for these expenditures. <br /> Also enclosed are more details about the conference. <br />
