MINUTES 1849 <br /> Solid Waste Commission Meeting y <br /> February 8, 1994 <br /> Chair Marty McCleery called the meeting to order at 7:10 PM <br /> COMMISSION MEMBERS PRESENT: Jeff Alexander, Laura Kuettel, Barbara Leary, <br /> Marty McCleery, and John Hustad, Council liaison. <br /> AMENDMENT OF JANUARY 13, 1994 MINUTES: Marty McCleery asked that the <br /> following sentence on page 1 a) "Departing commissioners are presently required to remain on the <br /> Commission until a replacement is appointed." be deleted from the minutes. The members agreed <br /> with his request. Laura Kuettel asked that the following sentence on page 4, first paragraph, <br /> "Those that would do it would charge a substantial fee." be deleted from the minutes. The <br /> members agreed with her request. Barbara Leary added her work phone number to the <br /> Commission phone list included with the minutes (636 -3650) <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF JANUARY 13, 1994: Laura Kuettel moved and Marty <br /> McCleery seconded the approval of the amended January 13, 1994 minutes. <br /> Agenda Item: (D3) Continuation of work on proposed city wide garage sale and <br /> preparation of recommendation to city Council: Laura Kuettel discussed the proposed <br /> garage sale and Shirley Chenoweth's guidance toward the writing of the Council recommendation. <br /> The proposal must be completed by February 16 for presentation to the council's next meeting. <br /> Laura listed all of the necessary components of the resolution which included Commission <br /> Guidelines and the rationale for having a city wide garage sale, Roseville police involvement, <br /> advertising estimates and activities. <br /> Laura Kuettel suggested that not more than $125.00 would be needed for advertising the sale. She <br /> also suggested that an article would be published in the City Newsletter. She also said that she <br /> was working with Jerry Rueittiman, Roseville Police Liaison, to involve the Neighborhood Block <br /> Captains in the advertising process. Discussion continued around the distribution of identification <br /> balloons and registration prior to the sale. Involvement of the city hall staff will be minimal. Jeff <br /> Alexander volunteered to do the map after the registration was completed. <br /> Laura Kuettel will continue her inquiries and city business involvement will be discussed at the <br /> next Commission meeting. <br /> Marty McCleery restated the purpose of the garage sale as a effort to continue to support: Reduce, <br /> Recycle, and Reuse. <br /> Laura Kuettel will be attending the child safety seat recall meeting and will report back to the <br /> Commission at the next meeting. She will also talk to the Lions Club about possible involvement <br /> with the garage sale. <br /> Items for the final Guidelines will be firmed up at the next meeting. It was requested that Susan <br /> Smith contact the St. Anthony Park garage sale people about their guidelines. <br /> Jeff Alexander volunteered to draft the resolution for the Council; John Hustad will assist. <br /> Student Representation on the Commission: Barbara Leary reported on her inquiries <br /> about student representation on the Commission. Contacts were made to Falcon Heights <br /> Elementary, the Roseville Area High School Activity Director, and a former elementary Falcon <br /> Heights teacher.
