A <br /> CITY OF FALCON HEIGHTS <br /> SOLID WASTE COMMISSION <br /> RESOLUTION <br /> WHEREAS, the Falcon Heights Solid Waste Commission desires <br /> that the city participate in Project Childsafe to assist in the <br /> recycling/reuse of safe child car seats and removal and appropriate <br /> disposal of unsafe child car seats from the community; and <br /> WHEREAS, Project Childsafe is funded by the National Highway <br /> Traffic Safety Administration and is a project of the Minnesota <br /> Department of Public Safety and the Center for Injury Prevention; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, the project is committed to decreasing deaths and <br /> injuries suffered by child passengers in motor vehicle crashes, <br /> through promoting the proper use of child car seats, compatibility <br /> of car seats with seat belts and automatic crash protection systems <br /> (air bags and automatic seat belts) and the removal of unsafe car <br /> seats from use; and <br /> WHEREAS, the project is being conducted with the cooperation <br /> of the Ramsey County Department of Public Health and communities <br /> within Ramsey County; and <br /> WHEREAS, Project Childsafe will train local volunteers to <br /> assist in the program and all approved car seats will be inspected <br /> and refurbished for distribution to families in need; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Commission desires to offer a $3.00 per car seat <br /> rebate to encourage participation, <br /> NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Commission recommends <br /> that the City Council consider the following requests: <br /> 1. Authorization for the city to participate in Project <br /> Childsafe. <br /> 2. Permission to conduct the car seat collection in <br /> conjunction with the annual Ice Cream Social in July of <br /> 1994. <br /> 3. Authorization to approach the Falcon Heights/Lauderdale <br /> Lions Club for volunteers and for funding to cover the <br /> $3.00 per car seat rebate. <br /> Martin McC leery, Chair <br /> Falcon Heights Solid Waste Commission <br /> Adopted this 10th day of March, 1994 <br />
