7. At this meeting (if time permits) or at a subsequent meeting, the council
shall discuss the merits of the different proposals and direct Administrator
Hoyt on points to discuss or negotiate with a particular police provider or
providers. (Councilmembers Gehrz and Jacobs will be involved in this
discussion and negotiation process.)
(The limited time at this meeting will most likely require that the council
discuss specific proposals at a subsequent council meeting. If so, the
meeting date for this discussion shall be announced at this meeting for
public information and use by the media.)
8. Following further discussions with a police provider or providers, the council
will be presented with any additional information on the proposal(s) at a
subsequent council meeting. Based upon this additional information, the
council may adopt a police service proposal for 1995.
9. At the same meeting that the council adopts a police proposal, the council
shall direct Administrator Hoyt and Attorney Bachman to draft a contract
that covers the service and costs described in the proposal that the city
council approved.
10. The council shall approve the final contract for police service at a later
council meeting.
Follow- up and coordination
Once the council approves the contract, it will be important to work with the police
provider to make sure that the service identified in the contract is clearly
understood by all parties involved in providing and receiving the police service so
that it is ready to deliver on January 1, 1995.
