POSITION TITLE: PUBLIC WORKS /PARKS SUPERINTENDENT <br /> Primary Objective of Position: <br /> Serve as a working supervisor providing first line supervision to the public <br /> works /parks staff including: full -time, part -time and seasonal employees. Assist in <br /> establishing an annual maintenance routine and be responsible for scheduling and <br /> delegating work assignments and participating in the completion of tasks and projects <br /> associated with the maintenance, construction and repair of city parks, buildings, <br /> equipment, streets, sanitary and storm sewer systems. <br /> Supervision Received: Works under the supervision of the city administrator. <br /> Park maintenance activities are undertaken with collaboration and some limited <br /> direction by the Parks and Recreation Director. <br /> Supervision Exercised: Supervises a public works staff of one full -time worker, one <br /> part -time worker and some part -time temporary employees. <br /> Major Area of Accountability: <br /> PARKS GROUNDS <br /> Plan, assign, supervise and participate in city park and grounds maintenance <br /> operations including but not limited to: <br /> Maintenance of buildings, parking lots, walkways, turf, trees, <br /> ice rinks, fields, courts, trails, play equipment and other general <br /> facilities and amenities that are part of the park system. <br /> Ensuring equipment is well maintained and appropriate for the purpose <br /> intended. <br /> Inspection of all components of the park system to determine maintenance <br /> and repair needs. <br /> Performance of general clean -up and care of all park areas. <br /> Perform skilled jobs that include driving of trucks, tractors, <br /> operation of heavy and light equipment, hand and power tools. <br />
