4-25, Tar <br /> HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION <br /> Minutes from April 12th 1994 <br /> Commissioners Present; Gwen Willems, Dave Bowers <br /> Commissioners Absent; Ted Johnson, John Treadwell <br /> Guests; Sue Gehrz <br /> The meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM. <br /> Business: <br /> 1. The minutes from the March 8th meeting were approved unchanged. <br /> 2. Paul J. Martinez applied for a commission seat. His application was discussed and Paul <br /> was thought to be an excellent candidate for the commission. Sue Gehrz spoke very highly <br /> of his abilities. His appointment will be discussed by the City Council at their next <br /> meeting. <br /> 3. It was thought that we might advertize in the Newsletter for the U. of M. for imput or <br /> commissioners for our H.R.C. Gwen will be looking into this. <br /> 4. Sue will be attending a Seminar on youth involvement in boards and commissions and <br /> will ive us input at our May meeting. <br /> g P Y g• <br /> 5. Some Ideas for seminar topics were; International Human Rights, Senior Citizens living <br /> will, Diversity in the community. <br /> 6. There will be a meeting for the MCAD (Mayors Commission Against Drugs) May 5th at <br /> Falcon Heights City Hall at 2:00 to 4:00 PM any one is welcome to attend. <br /> 7. 'Kara Taylor for the City of South St. Paul contacted Gwen and asked if any of our <br /> commissioners would like to atttend a meeting at the Holiday Inn on Concord St. in South <br /> St. Paul on May 9th at 5:00 to 6:30 PM, to give them imput on what we have done and are <br /> going to do as a H.R.C. They are in the process of beginning to form a H.R.C. in their <br /> city. Gwen and Dave will be attending and any other commissioners are welcome to <br /> attend. <br /> NEXT MEETING IS May 10TH AT 7:00 P.M.
