St. Paul. Will install a "slow for children" sign if the residents pay for <br /> it. <br /> Roseville. Does not install "slow for children" or "watch for children" <br /> signs. <br /> New Brighton. Resident submits a petition to the police chief. The chief <br /> investigates and reports on the request. All neighbors are <br /> notified and a public hearing is held prior to authorizing any <br /> sign. <br /> Shoreview. Residents write a joint letter requesting consideration of a <br /> sign to the public works director, who forwards the request <br /> to the council. <br /> Staff recommendation: <br /> Given the research on "watch for children" type of signs and the move away from <br /> them in many cities because of their ineffectiveness, staff recommends not placing <br /> a watch for children sign in the neighborhood. However, the Falcon Woods <br /> neighborhood is entirely self- contained.
