CONSENT CONSENT CONSENT CONSENT CONSENT CONSENT
Meeting Date: 10/26/94
Agenda Item: C 4
CITY OF FALCON HEIGHTS
REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION
ITEM DESCRIPTION: Request for renewal of lease for the Minnesota Pollution
Control Agency monitoring equipment
SUBMITTED BY: Gary Eckhardt, Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA)
REVIEWED BY: Susan Hoyt, City Administrator
Pete Klingenberg Public Works and Parks Superintendent
EXPLANATION /SUMMARY:
(prepared by Susan Hoyt)
The MPCA has been leasing space for its monitoring equipment that monitors air
quality at the intersection of Snelling and Larpenteur Avenues from the city since
January 1, 1991. The equipment is located in the upper level of the public works
garage. An MPCA employee checks the equipment about once a week.
The current lease, which expires in November, 1994, is at a cost of $60 month.lhe
first two year lease was at 50 /month. The rent is based upon the estimated cost
of electricity used by the equipment because the space is not necessary for other
activities.
After reviewing the city's electrical bills, staff estimates that the total electricity costs
for the city hall area went up by 10% since 1992, when the last lease was
determined. Therefore, staff recommends increased the lease rate to 70 a month
to MPCA for another two years. This will cover the costs of the electricity for the
equipment.
If you have questions about the types of equipment and the results of the monitoring
of the area, staff will arrange to get this information for you.
ACTION REQUESTED:
Approve a monthly lease with MPCA at $70 /month for two years with the expiration in
November, 1996.
