„ARPIN” <br /> Meeting Date: 11/9/94 <br /> Agenda Item: C 6 <br /> CITY OF FALCON HEIGHTS <br /> REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION <br /> ITEM DESCRIPTION: Approval of contract renewal with Transworld Systems, <br /> Inc. <br /> SUBMITTED BY: Carla Asleson, Administrative Assistant /Planner <br /> EXPLANATION /SUMMARY: <br /> In 1992, the city council approved a contract for service with Transworld Systems, <br /> Inc. for collection services of outstanding ambulance bills. Prior to 1992, collections <br /> were handled through conciliation court, a time consuming and expensive method for <br /> all parties involved. Since contracting with Transworld, the city has recovered <br /> $3,492.29 from 14 of 38 past due accounts. <br /> It should be noted that Transworld's method of recovering payment is to send a <br /> number of diplomatic, non threatening letters which request that the recipient contact <br /> city hall to make payment arrangements. They also send a thank you letter after the <br /> recipient either makes payment in full or makes arrangements for a credit schedule. <br /> Transworld Systems' contract for 1994 -96 will provide two years of collection service <br /> (up to 45 accounts) for a flat fee of $450.00. All monies recovered by Transworld <br /> go to the city. Staff recommends approval of the contract, as it has been found to <br /> be an efficient and fair means of obtaining payment from patients. <br /> ACTION REQUESTED: Approval of a two year service contract with Transworld <br /> Inc., at a cost not to exceed $450.00. <br />
