MAW <br /> Meeting Date: 12/7/94 <br /> Agenda Item: P 1 <br /> CITY OF FALCON HEIGHTS <br /> REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION <br /> ITEM DESCRIPTION: Report and action on a proposed indoor playground <br /> SUBMITTED BY: Carol Kriegler, Parks and Recreation Director <br /> REVIEWED BY: Susan Hoyt, City Administrator <br /> EXPLANATION /SUMMARY: Planning is progressing in an effort to establish an indoor playground <br /> available for use in late January or early February. The intent of this facility is to provide a room <br /> filled with toys and simple play equipment where adults (parents, grandparents, caregivers) can <br /> bring children for social and recreational opportunities. <br /> A list of 17 "interested facility user" families has been accumulated over the past several months <br /> in response to city newsletter articles and parks and recreation flyers. A few of these parents <br /> attended a meeting on October 10 when a wide range of playground issues were initially discussed. <br /> Issues such as: facility location, funding mechanisms, hours of operation, and use policies were <br /> addressed in a preliminary manner. Staff has since further researched a number of these issues and <br /> explored implementation possibilities. <br /> Carol Kriegler will present an indoor playground program proposal at the December 7th council <br /> meeting. The report will include a review of work to date as well as a plan and timeline for program <br /> implementation. <br /> ACTION REQUESTED: Staff report on the indoor playground <br /> Discussion <br /> Approve moving ahead with plans for the indoor <br /> playground activity <br />
